Cisco Systems is one of the original companies that helped to form the “Silicon Valley”. The are quite literally the backbone the internet and communication for a countless number of businesses, governments, and organizations. They have been able to rebrand and update themselves to stay relevant in the ever-evolving trends of tech. Below are some highlights of my contributions during my tenure with Cisco.

Role:
Senior Lead Product Designer

Tools Used:
Figma, FigJam, JIRA, ZeroHeight

Summary:
In 2022 I was asked to lead a new design system team for the Cloud Networking business unit of Cisco. This team is responsible for adopting a new design system at Cisco called Magnetic, and included a major redesign of twelve different product applications. While leading the team, I was responsible for managing the workflow processes for not only the design system team, but by extension the entire Cloud Networking UX team of 15 designers. I used FigJam to help document how to contribute to our design system. I was also asked to become the design system advocate and liaison for the React development team and part of that meant creating a process to audit, document, and manage enhancements using JIRA.

Summary:
By 2021, I had become the Senior UX Designer for leading an effort to simplify the product lineup for Data Center customers. This consolidation merged several applications into one. It was a huge task as these enterprise applications all required extensive UX and industry knowledge to be able to successfully redesign the user experience for the Data Center application suite. Part of this process also meant that I would become a major contributor to the design system, which at the time before the merger which was supporting five other products that we were unifying the designs of. Each of which had their own individual designers, all of whom I had the pleasure of mentoring.

Role:

Tools Used:
Sketch, Invision, Abstract

Summary:
In 2019, I became responsible for the design of Cisco’s Network Insights application suite, a piece of their Data Center related applications. That meant that I was owning end-to-end features from ideation, to fully mocked up prototypes all while updating the look and feel to be more modern and easier to use.
